Raising standards (state schedule)

Senate Bill 1's first deliverable was the process for standards revision, due April 24, 2009. A copy of the plan is publicly available in the KBE agenda book here (Attachment A under "Discussion of MOA").

Math work will build on the multi-state common standards project (discussed here) and be complete this year. Reading and writing work will also begin from the common language arts project and be complete next year.

While there will not be a multi-state starting point available for the other subjects, the state plans to use a similar process starting in January 2010 to prepare standards in science, social studies, arts and humanities, and practical living/career studies.
