Advanced Placement success grows!

Last year's Advanced Placement results are in, showing an important jump in the number of public school students earning a score of 3, 4, or 5--strong enough to get them college credit for that part of their high school work. Overall, the number of students with those successful scores went up 20 percent, from 7,144 in 2008 to 8,562 in 2009.

By ethnicity, the number of students with successful scores increased:
  • 27 percent for Hispanic students.
  • 25 percent for African American students.
  • 20 percent for white students.
  • 16 percent for Asian students.
